The Center for prevention wants to be a key organization that wants to raise the awareness of members of immigrant communities on these health issues and develop programs of health education, health promotion, prevention, and early detection of chronic diseases.
Locally, our network of partners supports cases throughout Alberta Canada, giving them access to help, advice, and breaks from caring.
OUR FIELD OF ACTION
- Reduce the very high rate of prevalence of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and cancers in high-risk African Canadians through the adoption of a culturally appropriate lifestyle.
- Provide affordable and/or transition housing to members in need.
- Provide a culturally appropriate long-term care framework for the needs of Afro-Canadian seniors.
- Promote international collaboration by ensuring the exchange and transfer of knowledge.
- Create partnerships with State institutions, health agencies, religious communities and community organizations to monitor the changing needs of community health care.
- Develop community-based awareness programs on health issues affecting Afro-Canadians with focus on education and health promotion, chronic disease prevention, early detection and service Information and reference for patients and research.
- Promote access to public health expertise through community-based workshops and training activities.
